Write to Yourself

Write to Yourself is a writing community created and hosted by author Hazel Hayes. The goal of WTY is to offer writers of all skill-levels a chance to reconnect with their practice, overcome their fear of the blank page, and connect with other artists along the way. 

Hazel wanted the branding itself to feel cozy and welcoming - a safe space to scrawl your ideas on a piece of scrap paper or write fragmented thoughts in your notes app when inspiration strikes. Because of this, I leaned into the hand drawn imagery for her branding icons, which include depictions of books and writing instruments, as well as nods to Hazel’s Irish roots. The Ogham symbol for “hazel” is present in the brand pattern for both its reference to Hazel’s name and for being the symbol of divine inspiration.

Below is the logo I created, the brand icons, the brand pattern, website banner designs, and social media templates. Throughout it all, I focused on creating layered designs that felt tactile and textured like a well loved journal.
